Campus Wi-Fi Guides

Register a Gaming Console on College Wi-Fi

Use the approved device network and wireless MAC address for a PS5, Xbox or Nintendo console.

Gaming consoles often cannot complete a browser-based campus login. Registration gives the network an approved identifier for the console without asking it to display the captive portal.

Confirm that consoles are supported

Ask campus IT whether entertainment devices use a separate SSID and whether online gaming services are permitted. Registration does not override network policy.

Find the console Wi-Fi MAC address

Open the console network or system information screen and record the wireless address. Wired and wireless connections usually use different values.

Create the device record

  1. Open the official portal on a phone or laptop.
  2. Choose the console device type if offered.
  3. Enter the wireless MAC address.
  4. Wait for activation, restart the console and reconnect.

Test the connection

If internet access works but multiplayer does not, the issue may be NAT or service policy rather than registration. Send IT the game, error code and time of failure.
